Students Catch a Fright

On the day before Halloween the hallways were scattered with zombies and other creatures. Tenth graders planned out the haunted hallway with Mr. Nisonoff and brought out the Halloween spirit.

It was set up as a maze using five classrooms. Each classroom was decorated and set up as a different theme or movie. The first room was pitch black and was the introduction to the haunted hallway. The second room was set up as an asylum. The students had their makeup professionally done by Melissa and Laura Giammarino, for the scare and wore bloody white shirts. The room also included halloween decorations such as skeletons and body parts.

“I was signed up for the asylum, which at first I didn’t want to be in that room but at the end of it I think it was my favorite room because it was the scariest,” sixth grader Arsal Mahmood said.

For the next room multiple strobe lights were on for special effects and blood was splattered across the room along with broken dolls and ripped stuffed animals. The scare students in that room were sitting on tables and yelling things such as “I want mommy.”

Like the movie “The Purge” the next room was the Purge room. With the track from the movie playing in the background and a couple of teachers and students hiding with masks.

“I always have fun scaring people. A lot of people knew it was me immediately because I’m the tallest person,” environmental science teacher Mr. Vandeurs said.

After the purge room the last room was a movie room which was setup with multiple candles and empty chairs. The room played a scene from the movie Sinister and at the end the guides escorted the students out back to their Halloween dance.

“The haunted hallway is becoming a Halloween tradition. In our second year it was scarier and better organized than last year,” student government coordinator Mr. Nisonoff said.
