Things continue to evolve at school during its 10th year anniversary. However, this time it was centered around student needs. Mr. Petrotta, an IEP teacher, has fought for resources that can benefit the school and make it a more productive area.

“It’s a big change and I’m glad I get to help create more resources. It’s an exciting change,” technology specialist Mr. Myrtil said.

Frustration began when teachers had to argue for carts when they needed them. Some classes have reserved carts that limit the other teachers resources. At this point, teachers demanded a change.

“We are providing technology because it is important to Journalism and other classes, and as I was looking at.. the availability of the cart, it started to get frustrating. Some classes get carts every day which was difficult for other classes to get them [laptop cart],” IEP teacher Mr. Petrotta said.

Mr. Petrotta was at a learning conference, when he decided to take a step and explain his frustration toward the scarce resources. As it was over, a member of the conference gave him a website to apply toward laptops that get donated from companies that no longer need them. After that moment, a proposal was made and sent to the organization, comp4kids. And thankfully, he got the school 80 laptops, enough to fill a little more than 2 classes.

“I think it’s a great idea because sometimes we aren’t able to have them since others take them and getting them will be more accessible to us”, sophomore Denise Amorgianos said.
