Talk of getting a new school building

“There is going to be a new school on 35th avenue. I want that new school to be ours so we can have our own building. Draw a lot of community relations, so the community can be shown. People can attend meetings, parents can call 411 or contact Sen. Avella. Anything to draw attention to WJPS,” Principal Ms. Schneider said.

Ms. Schneider announced her plans for WJPS to get their own building, during the first town hall of the year. That announcement left students and faculty quite confused, wondering what she meant.

The building she intends for WJPS to have as their own is located on 35th Avenue, it was previously a jewish center.

A majority of the middle school was not aware of talk of WJPS getting a new building, but high school students were.

“I feel like where she is planning to build a new school is very inconvenient for the students, looking at where it is a really big hike for students that are coming from many different areas. It’s already bad enough that our school has no money, so how are they going to get a new building ?,” junior Stephanie Mantilla said.

Weather or not the plans for WJPS to get a new building go through, students and faculty will only have to wait to find out more.
