Students get educated at the first town hall about what to do in case of emergencies.

During the town hall, on September 16th, procedures of what to do in emergencies were discussed. Such as a hard lockdown, soft lockdown, shelter-in and ect. Students and teachers had to view a slideshow in how to do so. It was mandatory by the New York Department of Schools.

β€œIt was for emergency preparedness and by law we had to show the students the slides for that,” special education teacher Mr. Nisonoff said.

Also discussed in the town hall was the 10th year anniversary of WJPS and clubs to join, if students were interested. Clubs like glee, video game, DoSomething, greek, knitting and so on. Students were told about the 10 year anniversary festival that will occur at the end of the month.

β€œI was more interested in hearing about the clubs and 10 year anniversary, they go over the drills every year and it’s the same stuff,” senior Jamie Jensen said.

This was just one of many town halls to come, town halls happen at least once a month.
