Reminiscing high school memories

In the past four years of high school, seniors have made tons of memories. Seniors shared their own favorite memories of their time spent with each other.

“The trip to Flushing Meadows in junior year to view artifacts from the worlds fair at the Queens Museum,” senior Adva Fuchs said.

“My favorite memory from WJPS is when my AP Language and Composition teacher, Ms. DeStefano, made our whole class belgian waffles for breakfast to celebrate our hard work throughout the year and to celebrate the end of AP season,” senior Amada Guapisaca said.

“My favorite experience was either the Six Flags trip for physics class in 11th grade or the Central Park trip the entire grade went on in 10th,” senior Calliope Kostopoulos said.

“I always thought that the talent shows and concerts were always great here, but lately I think they’ve been slacking. Maybe I have higher expectations now, but when I was a freshman and even sophomore, I thought they were like the next greatest thing since sliced bread. Nothing can compare going to Six Flags though for physics, that was a blast of a time and was a great experience for me, also physics itself was pretty fun, I just wish I studied harder for the regents at the end of the year,” senior Christopher Dadic said.

“My favorite experience in WJPS is playing basketball in Gym, it was a lot of fun and I always worked to do better, “ senior Christopher Petronella said.

“My favorite memory is when Michelle made a llama face during pre calc,” senior Dahae Jung said.

“My favorite memory in WJPS was field day sophomore year. This was my first field day and being able to spend time with my classmates outside the classroom was so fun, “ senior Kaitlyn McKenna said.

“My favorite memory is when the senior act was performed at the end of the Talent Show. Everyone worked so hard and it was fun to be on that stage with my friends dancing and singing,” senior Laina Vitarelli said.

“My favorite memory from WJPS was going to Europe with all my best friends for our last big adventure before college,” senior Luci Laut said.

“My greatest memory would have to be the Winter Talent Show in December 2014. For that show, I helped with tech crew, while also performing. It was a fun experience, and [for me] it was my best and most important performance, because it was the last performance that all the students and faculty would see from me, and my performance was for my best friend who I’ve know since we were 7 years old, and the performance helped me in convincing her how in love with her I was and how much I wanted to be with her, while in the end, it helped in making her my girlfriend,” senior Luciano Cardoza said.

“I’ve been in WJPS since 6th grade and my favorite memory was laughing with my friends as we did a project in seventh grade for Mr angeles. We splatter painted a poster board to show the effects on your pulse when you’re near someone you like,” senior Markella Giannakopoulos said.

“One of my favorite memories from WJPS was a few years ago when Mr. Tesler, and his band attended our school for a concert,” senior Melanie Cardona said.

“Honestly its so difficult to write just one memory into this survey. I dont have one favorite memory I have several. I have so many different memories that I can’t begin to filter through them. I loved meeting new people and developing relationships with the teachers. I loved playing basketball after school and I love the group projects that were assigned, for example the skit for AP Lit and the Pub and Finance Project, “ senior Mohammed Kazmi said.

“Being taught by Starr Sackstein, making Ernie Lai laugh, and experiencing Myrtle put on the best rap performance in WJPS history,” senior Quincy Tunstall said.

“My favorite trip was my trip to Six Flags my junior year. In my physics class, we learned about speed, velocity, acceleration and how all of it applies. Therefore, we were able to go to six flags and experience all these physics concepts in person. It was a great way to learn, have fun socialize, etc,” senior Yura Shin said.

“My favorite experience was being a part of the environmental club. After school it was so much fun because we would do recycling races. Additionally, Chris D, Dominique, Naomi, Bianca and the other members would roll on wheels in the hallways after four o’clock. I just remember always laughing and being a part of something that did some good,” senior Jasmine Tejada said.

These are a few of the many memories seniors had throughout the years spent at WJPS.
