Open Bathroom Doors

Bathroom doors in our school should not be left open. Students should be allowed to have privacy and not have people walking by looking in especially with the bathroom being left open and students of the opposite gender could be looking in.

The bathroom doors in this school are left wide open and on the third floor walking past you can see everything going on in the bathroom, people going in and out of the stalls, washing hands, whatever the students are doing in the bathroom. Everyone walking past can see.

WJPS assistant principal Mr. Yarmy said, “We are trying to keep them closed, but there is an issue because many times students stay in the bathroom for a long period of time. It needs to stay open so we know for any medical reasons or emergencies if a student passes out we could know.”

WJPS eighth grader David Figueroa said, “I like my privacy so I don’t like how the doors are open and sometimes the teachers come into the bathroom and I don’t like that because I’ll be using the bathroom and they just come in and see.”
