Report Double Parking

Report+Double+Parking

By: Vicky Shi, Community Reporter

According to the nyc.gov website, the New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner, Ydanis Rodriguez, introduced a new website for residents to report occurrences of double parking, blocked bike lanes, and bus lanes.

The NYC DOT will decide the location of additional loading zones throughout the five boroughs, considering the information collected by the platform.

This new platform aims to improve the city’s standard of living and improve safety. Residents of New York can use this platform by visiting nyc.gov/loadingfeedback, to submit comments, and set pins on maps to mark specific locations.

Double parking is an ongoing issue in the city and puts others at risk while being illegal at all times. There are times when blocked streets and crosswalks prevent emergency vehicles from responding.

“I think this new platform is very useful, since it can reduce the problems with double parking which can cause a lot of problems in the community,” said Eleftheria Karam, a WJPS freshman.

WJPS paraprofessional, Ms. Salcedo said, “Double parking is now a problem in the community and almost everyone is doing this action, which is very dangerous for us. I think by reporting it can minimize the number of them.”
