College Readiness

Over the past few months, WJPS seniors have been applying to college and preparing to get ready for their next level of education.

Seniors applied to public and private colleges using apps such as the CUNY First App, the Common App, and individual applications of the colleges they were interested in.

Mr. Lumetta and Ms. Muriel, who can be found in the college suite in room 324, help students during their career seminar classes, answering questions and making announcements about deadlines that apply to most students.

WJPS senior Nick Zuvich discussed the process of applying, stating, “When applying for college it was very stressful for me. I was very confused, but I had a lot of help from my family and Ms. Muriel in the process.”

“It was an easy process. I knew what I wanted to do already and guidance really helped me apply to the college I wanted,” stated WJPS senior George Vlantis.

By May 1st, the majority of seniors had made a decision to commit to a college, with students deciding to attend a wide diversity of public and private colleges. Students will now have to take the next steps by paying tuition and deposit fees to join their new schools.
