As of recently, WJPS has accepted a new transfer student from Holy Cross High School, a junior named Frankie Mezzanotte. He plays baseball for Francis Lewis High School.

Mezzanotte is passionate about the sport and has been playing ever since he was five. “A big portion of why I enjoy baseball so much is because it makes my dad happy watching me play… I like winning and it’s fun being able to grow with your friends.”

When asked what the most challenging thing was about playing baseball, he stated, “Hitting the ball. The ball is coming in fast, so you don’t have a lot of time to recognize if it’s a strike or not.”

Mezzanotte believes that not letting mistakes affect you is important because “it’s a mental game, and if your head is in the wrong place during a game, it affects you entirely and how you are as a player.”

In his free time, Mezzanotte likes to workout at the gym, spend time with friends, and go to his job at a restaurant. “The hardest thing about working at a restaurant is dealing with people’s attitudes because no matter what they do or say, you have to continue being respectful.”
