The WJPS Theater Club recently opened and club activities are in full swing. The high school branch, consisting of mostly tenth grade students, is a fun and engaging place to interact with fellow students who are also interested in live theater.

Students in this club can participate in a number of theater and improv based games and activities to engage student’s creativity and teamwork skills.

“Doing activities are the most fun, such as word association and sentence chains,” said WJPS sophomore Kristen Ng.

Theater club members are also set to perform a show of their interest at the end of the year. It can be an existing play or one they make up themselves.

The brainstorming process amongst the students for what the show in question will be has already begun and once an idea has been selected, role assignments and rehearsals will begin.

“I like the idea of getting to choose the play, I think it will make everyone in the theater club feel more connected and engaged to the project,” said WJPS sophomore Sophia Turner.

As ideas continue to get put out and new information comes to light, the WJPS Theater Club proves to be a fun and exciting new way for students to interact with each other.
