There is a noticeable change in the gym- a large black net stretching across the gymnasium’s ceiling. The gym is shared by three schools.

“The purpose of having the net is really student safety, that’s our number one priority, other than that, the volleyballs hitting the roofs are endangering student’s gameplay so it’s great to have the net to help prevent that,” explained Ms. Smith, WJPS physical education teacher. 

“The net is beneficial and all but there are some problems with having it, number one is that it should have been placed higher than it currently is, but that isn’t much of a problem, but the main problem I would say is the color choice, having black nets makes the gym look darker even with lights on and If I were to choose a color, I would most definitely choose white,” added Mr. Strasseberg, another WJPS gym teacher.  

Now with the nets being added, future gym lessons involving sports activities such as volleyball and basketball will not result in hitting any of the ceiling tiles.
