Sharing Reading

Students from WJPS recently went to P.S. 32 in Flushing to read to kindergarteners, along with first and  second graders. They read books from inside the classrooms and brought some from home.

Students missed their 2nd and 3rd period classes to go with Ms.Caban to read and spend time with these kids.

WJPS junior, Holly Pasch said, “I wanted to do this because it gave me an opportunity to work with kids that I don’t get on a day to day basis. Reading to kids is important because not only does it bring us back to our childhood and how we enjoyed read alouds but it also helps us become better public speakers.”

The coordinator of this trip, Ms.Caban, also enjoyed the trip and hopes to do it again. She said, “I guess maybe if we can coordinate more of an author so that we can all read the same so that we can see what they say but having them react to different books was also interesting.”

Many students enjoyed and hope to do this in the future.
