Thanksgiving Feast 2019

WJPS’ 14th annual Feast, which took place in the auditorium on the day before Thanksgiving, included generous amounts of food brought in from students and faculty. There were big tins of homecooked traditional meals such as rice and beans, pasta with pesto sauce, and dumplings.

To participate in eating the food brought in, you had to have brought something in as well. The student ambassadors and parents of students helped serve each grade as several hundred people shared in the feast.

Azaleia Martinez, WJPS sixth grader said,  “This is my first time experiencing something like the Thanksgiving Feast and my favorite thing about it was the fact that we were able to bring in foods from different cultures, and we were free to try whatever we wanted. It’s a good experience to try something new. My favorite dish was the baklava.”

Jake Stulic, WJPS eighth grader said, “I enjoy seeing and trying the different cultural foods that people brought in. I brought in plates and napkins.”

“I’m so happy that we’re keeping this tradition alive, I see the joy on everyone’s faces. Parents are here, teachers are volunteering when they are free as well. I think it’s a momentous bonding experience for the entire WJPS community,” said WJPS assistant principal, Mrs. Poulos.
