Adrien Block I.S 25’s Auditorium Upgrade

The Adrien Block Campus has been working to get a new auditorium. Just a few weeks ago the I.S. 25 PTA, faculty, and teachers set up a table in the main entrance of the campus, encouraging students to vote for a new auditorium. To vote, the students were required to be over the age of 14, live in the District 19 area, and were only allowed to vote once.

As soon as students walked into school in the morning, they were asked by representatives to vote if they thought the campus needed a new auditorium or not.

World Journalism Preparatory School 9th grader, Nicholas Martinez, said, “I think a new auditorium would be great, a lot of the seats in our auditorium now are broken or very worn out. Just the auditorium as a whole looks very used and definitely needs some fixing.”

If students didn’t get the chance to vote in person, parent coordinator, Ms. Helen Reed, forwarded an email with a link to the New York City Council Participatory, where students will have another chance to vote online along with parents.

WJPS 8th grader, Mason Bayer stated, “I feel that having a nice and presentable auditorium is really important because the auditorium is used for meetings, talents shows, and open houses. If parents, people of the community, or anyone visiting the community saw a worn out auditorium, their impression of the campus is not going to be good.”
