American Horror Story is an American television show that has just come out with their fourth season entitled Freakshow. The new season kicked off with a great premiere episode, which equally intrigued and chilled the viewers, introducing the plot with a plethora of new characters, situations, and memorable horrors that kept fans on the edge of their seats wishing for more.

Episode one started off in a 1952 setting in the seemingly peaceful Jupiter, Florida. The world doesn’t know what horrors are yet to arise; what problems will ensue before a milkman enters the home of Bette and Dot Tattler. The Tattler Twins (Sarah Paulson) are soon exposed to the world as a girl with two heads, though they’d probably prefer to be called two girls with one body.

“I like how they did the animation of the girl with two heads, because it was one actor. It’s cool.” junior Korhan Oral said.

Soon after being discovered by the world, they get whisked away by Ms. Elsa Mars (Jessica Lange), the owner of the town’s struggling Freak Show, to become her new headliners. Instantly, the show’s own Lobster Boy, Jimmy Darling (played by Evan Peters), takes a liking to them, using his charm to settle them in.

A lot of new, colorful characters have been introduced, creating a captivating cast for this freaky world. There’s Ethyl Darling, a bearded lady played by Kathy Bates, Meep the Geek, a tiny chick-eater played by Ben Woolf, the smallest woman in the world played by Jyoti Amge, and many other traditional Sideshow characters.

“I like all of the new characters because many of them are people you’d see in a real freakshow, but a lot of them are really creative and made up,” junior Sara Doran said.

Oh, one last thing. Twisty the Clown. Twisty, played by John Carroll Lynch, is the exact opposite of what a clown should be. He’s a dirty, scary, and angry kidnapper clown. He makes his debut by killing the family of a small boy and taking him away, along with a teenage girl who was picnicking with her boyfriend. He wears a huge smile mask over his real mouth, his real smile a mystery. He also takes a liking to wearing a bloody human scalp on his head.

Yeah, he wears a scalp on his head. If the whole “killer clown” thing wasn’t enough to evoke nightmares, that’ll probably do the trick.

All in all, the American Horror Story creators have done a fantastic job creating this new season. The characters are intriguing, the plot is interesting, and most of all, it’s freaky. It’s a definite must for people who love a twisted sense of horror paired with a good storyline.
