Former Arsenal striker has finally announced his retirement at the age of 37. Thierry Henry has made it clear that he will no longer be continuing his career as a professional soccer player and will work as analyst at Sky Sports instead.

“After 20 years in the game I have decided to retire from professional football. It has been an incredible journey and I would like to thank all the fans, teammates and individuals involved with Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal, Barcelona, New York Red Bulls, and of course the French National Team that have made my time in the game so special,” Henry said.

Henry began his career as a professional soccer player in 1999 and played for his first club, A.S Monaco. He only spent a short amount of time at Monaco before being sent off to play in England with Arsenal.

Left Winger, Henry soon became famous in the Barclays Premier League in England, becoming one of key figures in Arsenal’s attacking force. As an Arsenal player, he was able to score over 200 goals, win the Premier league twice, and also win three FA Cups.

After accomplishing many achievements in England, he was sold to F.C. Barcelona for 24 million euros with a four year contract deal, where he would go on to be part of the team that won La liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, the Spanish Supercup, and the European Supercup in one season. Henry was also a main player on the France International soccer team.

Finally F.C. Barcelona decided to sell him to New York Red Bulls where he would play soccer for his last club.

He was an amazing player and will be very much missed. His fans all hope that he will enjoy his days as sky reporter in England.
