This year Spirit week will be taking place from Monday October 28th until Friday November 1st. The whole school will be able to participate in different themes every day for one week. During Spirit Week, the Publications fair will be taking place, giving everyone the chance to “Come as [they] aren’t.”

The themes for this years spirit week will be Twin Day on Monday 10/28, Crazy Hat Day on Tuesday 10/29, Costume day on Wednesday 10/30, Come As You Are Not Day on Thursday 10/31, and Team Day which will also be a Jeans day on Friday, 11/1.

On Twin Day, students are encouraged to grab a partner and get some of the same clothes and be twins for the day. Even if the two people don’t look alike and are total opposites, its a chance to be alike for the day and to let the school know who they resemble.

Tuesday will be Crazy Hat Day everyone gets to dress themselves up with a funky hat and strut their stuff in their new (or old) favorite crazy hat.

Wednesday gives everyone the chance to wear their Halloween Costumes with pride and get themselves ready for Halloween the next day.

On Halloween, the theme will be “Come as you are not”. That day will also be the publications fair. There will be options to win fish, games and the most anticipated event; throwing a pie at the Mr. Cross, students’ teacher of choice,

Team Day will take place on the last day of spirit week. Students will be able to wear their favorite team’s jersey, or if they’re athletes, their own teams jersey or shirt. Students will be allowed to wear jeans on this day.

Spirit week began the first year the school opened as a celebratory event to help unite the students.

“We have spirit week today for the same reason we did when the school first opened, to help build school spirit and show unity. It’s nice to mix things up and have a little fun for the students,” assistant principal Mr. Jurman, said.

Students are showing excitement already about the upcoming spirit week for many reasons.

“Spirit week is so much fun because we get to have freedom and actually wear what we want as long as it corresponds to the themes of the days,”  junior Anastasia Papatheodorou, said. “It’s a fun opportunity to show our wild and wacky selves without breaking dress code.”

Spirit week has been held annually since the school opened in 2006 and the staff in charge of spirit week organization have full intentions of keeping it an annual event at the school for many years to come.
