Demi Lovato makes a comeback in NYC! By: Gabrielle Cestone, Junior.

Demi Lovato rocked the Hammerstein Ballroom on September 17th, 2011 in the Manhattan Center. She has been known as the rock goddess of the pre-teen generation but has recently mixed up her sound, expanding her fan-base to older teens.

Over 4,000 fans were let into the show at 6:30 to acquire their place in the ballroom since the show was first-come, first-serve. Dance music was played to pump up the crowd before Lovato came on at 8:30.

The blue lights started flickering, the beats started pounding and the crowd went wild. She opened the show with her smash-hit “All Night Long”.

Lovato performed about 8 songs from her new album, Unbroken, as well as songs from her previous records. A surprise for fans, was the performance of a cover from Lil Wayne’s “How To Love.”

Late last year, Lovato entered a treatment center for eating disorders, self-harm and personal struggles. “There are so many beautiful girls in this audience that don’t know that they’re beautiful, but they just are,” she said. “So I want to thank you guys for being there for me every single day I was away. I wouldn’t be here without you guys today.” This was her first “breakout” concert in front of fans.

Junior, Marisa Tillman said “I thought that it was awesome and also emotional how she kept thanking fans during the show. After every emotional song , she kept saying stuff like ‘Thank you to all my fans who stayed with me.’ It was really good, I enjoyed it.”

According to her official website, two concerts were arranged for this month, one in New York City and one in Los Angeles so that Lovato could share her new music with fans.

Fans walked away very satisfied. Freshman, Caroline DeBonis, said  “She is absolutely amazing. She is such an inspiration to all girls everywhere and she is my hero!”
