Since the opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar in Disney World, Florida, tourists have had the opportunity of experiencing the Avatar Flight of Passage attraction. The ride is centered in the Avatar universe from the 2009 James Cameron film of the same name.
As a 3D flight simulation, Avatar Flight of Passage allows visitors to explore the landscape of the planet Pandora while flying on a Banshee, a mythical bird-like animal featured in the film. Guests can imagine themselves as avatars, the hybrid human and the Pandoran indigenous Na’vi persona that is able to exist in the poisonous atmosphere of the planet.
Since it’s opening in Disney’s Animal Kingdom on May 27th, 2017, Avatar Flight of Passage has been garnering attention for the advanced use of technology involved in the attraction.
Tourists begin the ride by entering a room with eight stationary bicycles that guests sit in as if they were riding a motorcycle. After everyone is seated, restraints are activated in the back to secure the visitor and individuals are instructed to put on their 3D glasses.
The attraction begins with an opening 180 degree screen of a Pandoran cliff, where tourists experience the sights of the planet. The ride’s simulations allow individuals to “fly” side to side as well as glide above and experience sudden leaps forward.
At some points in the attraction, the motorcycle-like seats between the user’s legs move in a way that is supposed to mimic the breathing of the Banshee that they are flying on. Additionally, guests experience sudden smells of the Pandoran forest and a breeze coming from the ocean.
Tourists generally had positive feedback regarding the ride. Marcin Patro and Anna Pawłowska- Patro, tourists from Poland, stated, “The ride was breathtaking and delightful. It gave a sense of freedom and space to the user.”

Od czasu otwarcia Pandora – The World of Avatar w Disney World na Florydzie, turyści mają możliwość brać udział w atrakcji pod nazwą Avatar Flight of Passage. Przejażdżka jest umiejscowiona we wszechświecie Avatara – filmu Jamesa Camerona z 2009 roku pod tym samym tytułem.
Jako trójwymiarowa symulacja lotu, Avatar Flight of Passage pozwala turystom odkryć krajobraz planety Pandory podczas latania na Banshee, mitycznym ptasim zwierzęciu pojawiającym się w filmie. Każdy może sobie wyobrazić siebie jako avatara – hybrydę człowieka z pandorskim rdzeniem Na’vi, który może żyć w trującej atmosferze planety.
Od czasu otwarcia w Disneyowskim Animal Kingdom w dniu 27 maja 2017 roku, Avatar Flight of Passage przyciąga uwagę zaawansowanym wykorzystaniem technologii związanej z atrakcją. Przejażdżka rozpoczyna się od wejścia do pokoju, w którym znajduje się osiem stacjonarnych rowerów, na które ,,jeźdźcy” siadają jak na motocykl. Gdy wszyscy już usiądą, na plecach aktywowane są zabezpieczenia i goście są instruowani, aby założyć okulary 3D.
Atrakcja zaczyna się otwarciem 180 stopniowego ekranu, na którym widać urwisko Pandory, od którego zaczyna się poznawać widoki planety. Symulacja lotu pozwala ,,latać” na boki, w dół, w górę i doświadczać nagłych skoków naprzód. W niektórych punktach atrakcji siedzenie przypominające motocykl porusza się między nogami użytkownika w sposób, który ma naśladować oddychanie Banshee, na którym się leci. Dodatkowo odczuwa się zapachy lasu Pandory i bryzę płynącą z oceanu.
Turyści mieli bardzo pozytywne opinie dotyczące jazdy. Marcin Patro i Anna Pawłowska-Patro, turyści z Polski, stwierdzili: ,,Lot był zapierający dech w piersiach i zachwycający, dawał poczucie wolności i przestrzeni.”
