Every year the school hosts an award ceremony for seniors to show their hard work and dedication. All students will be receiving a medal but not all will be receiving an award. More than one student can receive an award.

On June 10th at 6:30 pm, seniors will be meeting in the auditorium to receive their awards. Those who receive an award will look at is as a great honor.

“I think it honors their accomplishments that they earned throughout high school. Each student plays a role in this school and these awards show what they have done,” parent coordinator Mrs. Reed said.

Some awards will include: Academic, service, and metals for the legacy students. All awards were chosen by the teachers. The legacy students are the ones who have been here since middle school. These awards are not superlatives. Students will be receiving those in a later notice.

“I don’t know if I will be getting an award, but if I do get one it will be a great honor. I’m actually really excited to see who got most improved. That would be a great award to have,” senior Kayleigh Mulvey said.

Students will need to dress formally and act on their best behavior. Parents are allowed to join, in fact they are encouraged to come. This night is a night to be shared between the families, students and teachers of the graduating class. Many teachers are both excited and sad to let their shining students receive recognition for their hard work.

“I am happy that they are seniors and are able to see their accomplishments but I am sad that they are leaving. It’s the beginning of the end,” science teacher Mrs. Douvres said.
