Austin Rivers, the 6’4, 22 year old son of Doc Rivers who currently coaches Los Angeles Clippers, has shown that he has potential to bring the Clippers to the second round of the playoffs. This backup shooting guard has moves that can be compared to other college players, but as of April 26, 2015, Rivers showed that he has potential to be a 6th man, which is the best player besides the starters.
He played outstanding against the San Antonio Spurs and he dominated against the Houston Rockets. Although the Clippers have lost to the Rockets 4-3 in the second round of the playoffs, the Clippers will not think about trading him in this offseason (well at least for now).
He averaged 8.4 points in the postseason and he had a game high of 25 points with 6 boards, while Chris Paul was out for an injury.
“He is the second best player they have off the bench, he is a great asset to the team,” senior Thelion Simmons said.
Hopefully, next season the Clippers will advance farther in the playoffs and hopefully make it to the finals, However, if center Deandre Jordan leaves the Clippers, the team will have issues. However, the Clippers will be in luck with Rivers backing them up.
