As the weather gets warmer there are many different options of things to do. Since the weather is changing, there are now more options for outdoor activities that not everyone notices that can be low cost and fun.
Bike riding is the best way to get the most of the day while still getting exercise. There are many bike paths in Queens to take that not only let riders exercise, but give them a scenic route to enjoy.
“I like going out bike riding and then going swimming. I don’t just swim for pleasure, I swim to practice for my team. It’s a great way to pass time and I love it,” sophomore Marianna Brogna said.
If exercising isn’t the best choice, then going to Central Park with friends for a picnic is another way to spend a beautiful spring day. Packing food and a blanket and going to the biggest park in the city can be an enjoyable day for anyone. After finishing eating, taking a walk around Central Park can help work off the food. There are many different types of flowers and beautiful sights to see while at Central Park and seeing the flowers when in first bloom can top off the day.
Going to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden in the spring is the best time to go. All flowers, plants and trees are in full bloom and as vibrant as ever. Walking around the gardens and taking pictures while staying cool is a great way to spend a spring day.
“I love going to the Botanical Gardens. It isn’t too hot and the student ticket is only $6 so it’s a cheap way to spend the day. Especially because everything is in full bloom,” senior Susie Pistone said.
If allergies are a problem, then the zoo could be a better choice. It isn’t too hot so the animals are still outside and don’t smell as much as in the summer. There are a lot of things to do at the zoo other than walking around. At the Bronx Zoo, you can go to petting zoos, take the monorail around certain parts of the zoo and go to plays.
