MTA prices are now rising by another 25 cents. “Its really frustrating because many of us have to take multiple bus routes and transfers can only get you so far,” teacher Monica Korb said.

Once again the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has raised their prices for public transportation. As of March 22nd, subway and bus prices were raised from $2.50 to $2.75.

These prices were last increased in 2013. The price went from $2.25 to $2.50. Every two years the price will increase by 4%, which is approximately 2% every year.

“Bus services are just a major fail, the money isn’t even going to the buses, they’re going to the pensions,” tech specialist Mr. Myrtil said.

MTA will give their customers a 5% bonus when they buy a round-trip or put at least five dollars on MetroCard. From 16 years ago this went down 5% from 10%. People are now getting affected by a quarter difference.

“For someone who takes the bus everyday,it is going to be annoying in the summer and weekends without my student metro,” junior Nicholas Cassarino said, “Soon its going to be $3 and thats just ridiculous,” he added.

People should be expecting another raise in price by 2017.
