First published 25 years ago, One Piece is an anime and manga series about the journey of the main character, Luffy, living in a world of pirates with the dream of becoming the King of the Pirates. 

In celebration of its anniversary in August of this year, there will be the release of a roleplay game based on the series called One Piece Odyssey.

In One Piece Odyssey, the player plays as Luffy’s crew, known as the Straw Hat Pirates. The game is set in the same world as the One Piece series and provides a never before seen prologue. 

WJPS junior Joseph Vega stated, “It’s very interesting especially considering the fact it’s an original story in the world of the show, it has the opportunity of creating characters and plot points, which won’t have an everlasting effect on the One Piece story.”

The game will be priced at $60 and available on the Playstation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Epic Games and Steam.

WJPS teacher Mr. Reff stated, “The animation did not look the greatest, but overall the game looks cool. I plan on waiting for reviews to determine if I buy it. Overall I think the game will be a success, I like the studio who makes the game, so my expectations will be relatively high.”
