National Honor Society(NHS) is hosting an annual food drive once again to help feed the hungry.

Until December 19th, the school is actively raising awareness to bring in non-perishable cans of food into school. Different types of food students are able to bring in include canned vegetables, rice, pasta, beans, etc. Students are able to drop the food off in the bins by the second and third floor elevators, throughout the school day.

“NHS is all about helping out others and it’s a great way to contribute to society and give others something to eat when they can’t get it for themselves. It warms my heart when I see students contributing to the food drive because it assures me that I’m doing something right and meaningful to help others,”President of the National Honors Society, Kaitlyn Mckenna said.

A food drive is held to collect canned and boxed foods to feed the hungry, and the NHS and the Do Something Club is looking forward for each student to bring in at least one canned food item.

“There are a lot of really unfortunate people in this country and my doing something as simple as bringing in a can of food could really change the result of someone’s holiday,” member of the do something club Celeste Trevellini says.

Food drives are one of the ways people try to raise awareness about hunger and poverty. With the holidays approaching, holding a food drive helps the less fortunate receive the things they need that they can’t get for themselves.
