Recently, Nintendo has continued it’s famous Super Smash Bros series with a new Super Smash Bros game that’s compatible with the Nintendo 3Ds, 3Ds XL, and WiiU. This game has gotten popular and celebrated throughout the world. New York is even had a competition to celebrate it’s release on October 4th, 2014.

“Super smash Bros is the best revolutionary fighting game ever made by Sakurai of Nintendo. It brings together Nintendo’s best characters from different series to fight together in one epic game,” junior Chris Stena said.

In the new Super Smash Bros game, there are new concepts that have been added; the player is now able to customize their own mii and play with it in the game, altering their movements, and giving them unique set ups.

“For Fun” and “For Glory” are the new game modes that have been made available for players. “For Fun” consists of random stages and fun items, while “For Glory” games are limited to the omega games with both 1 vs 1 and smash matches.

Solo play is possible with the classic mode that is included, here players can produce more difficult games for rewards. A new game mode has been added is called “Time Smash” where the player tries smashing a time bomb into other players to earn as many points as possible.

“Trophy rush” requires players to smash crates, raising up the fever meter, as they earn rewards and customizable items.

An online ranking system has been implemented to show the players solo mode score, and comparing it with other people’s scores around the world. People can now watch other players games by using spectator mode. Spectators can also places bets using gold to see which player would win.

Nintendo has added in new characters in addition to keeping some of the old characters from the last smash game.  New characters include the Wii Fit trainer, Animal Crossing’s villager, Rosalina, and Dark pit from Icarus rising.

Ice climbers, who were scheduled to launch in the new version, were removed due to the possible chance of technical limitations in the 3DS. Mewtwo is scheduled to be released in 2015 as a downloadable character.

Kids in schools around the nation have been enjoying this new game and interacting with each other in a fun and competitive way. They gather together in the lunch table, scream and shout, while they compete against each other with their favorite characters as the ultimate winner rises and smashes everyone off the screen.

“I think Smash has revolutionized the action fighting games. It’s a lot of fun especially if you play with friends. Everyone should try it once if they like games,” junior Alessandro Leto said.
