Fordham University is hosting the Latino College Fair. It will be talking about Private Colleges and Universities in New York of both Undergraduate and Graduate Programs, including Adelphi University, Fordham University, and Columbia University School of Nursing.
There will also be workshops that will speak about planning and paying for College. This will help students and their families understand the admissions and financial aid process. It will further explain grants and scholarships, including financial aid forms and deadlines.
“It would benefit a Latino to go. Especially [because] of the issues latino students face in college. It will be offering a number of workshops to help Latino students,” Guidance Counselor Mr. Lumetta said.
This event will take place on Saturday November 23, from 11:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
The “Ask Financial Aid Expert” stations allows the students and families to talk with experts on financial aid. There they will be able to get answers to questions, especially concerning payment for college.
All students are welcome to come to the fair. This event would benefit Latinos in specifically. Families of the students are welcome to come also, there will be Spanish translation available also. There will be giveaways and a $50 scholarship drawing for a high school class of 2014 college bound students,
“I’m going since I’m part Spanish and to see more colleges that would want a spanish person, by also helping me in my college search. It would be benefit me a lot to be able to look up scholarships that are solely for Hispanics” junior Markella Giannakopoulos said.
