The Haunted Hallway has been a tradition at WJPS for many years. It involves students going through scary rooms, with challenges to face. This year, the Haunted Hallway was escape-room themed, and was a great success. The students all dressed up in masks, and other very scary costumes. Over 200 middle schoolers attended.
“I had so much fun cracking the codes of each room,” 6th grader Angelina Degoian said.
Each room had different challenges. One room was a puzzle challenge, another room was a lock challenge, and there were many more.
This year’s Haunted Hallway was organized by the 10th grade student government. Other students form various grades helped out as well. Without the help of Mr. Nisonoff, Mr. Myrtle, Mr. Petrotta, Ms. Poulos, and Ms. Schneider, this event would not have been possible.
“We were really impressed with the effort that was put into making the Haunted Hallway. It was very scary and interesting, we had a great time,” spanish teacher Mr. Reff said.
High school students enjoyed finding the code to the lock and trying to open it.
“My friends and I really enjoyed how active the moderators were, it kept the interest going,” sophomore Carrie Zhang said.
During the event, the PTA hosted a dance for the middle school students and a movie for the high school students., which students attended before they went to the Haunted Hallway. All of this was was included in 15 dollars.
Next year’s plan will be similar to that of Six Flags. It is planned to have an extremely dark, and frightening version of the haunted hallway; Ghouls will be crawling around, and scaring people at every corner. The Haunted Hallway is an exhilarating event, that is enjoyed throughout the school.
