Social networking has some negatives, but it’s mainly positive. As long as people are responsible and think things through, it can be very useful and not harmful. Networking can improve school skills, as well as social skills.
Social networking can help students do better in school. Allowing students to learn outside of school may sometimes be an easier approach to looking up explanations online. Social networking can also improve social skills, improve their relationships, and help them to make new friends. It can help people who are socially isolated or shy to connect with other people.
“I feel it’s both because you can never trust the internet and you don’t know who is texting you. I also think it’s a good thing because you can meet amazing people out there and it sort of gets you to socialize a lot,” freshman Aishah Jaberi said.
“Social media is good because in society, all of our daily routines are organized and planned with the help of technology. We see news daily through social media such as instagram, facebook, twitter, tumblr, etc. Without these type of social medias, we wouldn’t be as advanced as we are today,” freshman Brianna Mendoza said.
Parents and teachers argue that it lower grades performance, but as long as people use the internet for educational purposes and people don’t excessively use social media, their brain won’t get off track. However, if people do use social media excessively, it’ll make their grade performances low because their brain’s priorities have been altered.
Social networking sites don’t always have cyberbullying. If people handle the situation properly, they can avoid it and prevent it from happening.
“Social media is good and bad in many ways. While they help you express yourself, social media can lead to many types of bullying and cyberbullying,” freshman Anthony Iannelli said.
Social media, as long as people are being cautious, can be very useful and positive. People can learn many things, meet new people and what not. If people give out information to strangers however, of course that would make it harmful and unsafe.
As long as people take the proper cautions and be appropriate, there is little or no harm. People can use social networking for school purposes and much more. It can help find criminals and protect us.
