DoSomething club is raising money to support Autism. Their goal is to reach $1,000 by April 26th.
Starting Wednesday, April 15th, they are having bake sales everyday at lunch and continuing to sell puzzle pieces for $1, until Friday April 24th. This will be leading up to the Autism walk on April 26th at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, which is 1.5 miles long.
“I’m so mad I can’t make it to the walk but I am helping sell the cupcakes at lunch, so come buy [some] its for a good cause,” junior Calli Atamian said.
Overall, the Autism Speaks Foundation wants to raise a total of $450,000 and they have already raised $119,829. One can also sign up to help raise money for Autism on the website. One can join a team or start their own team to raise money. The DoSomething club joined Ms. Robinson’s team to raise their own money under the DoSomething club.
“We started doing this 4 years ago, the DoSomething club wanted to support a major campaign and the students selected this organization and I think many of the students are affected by it whether they have it or they know someone who had it and we wanted to give back,” DoSomething club lead Ms.Robinson said.
If one doesn’t want to walk and still wants to donate, they are still able to donate under a walker, which is also on the website.
