Many students and staff members at WJPS are late due to MTA bus delays. Some buses don’t run frequently like the express bus that runs every hour off-peak. Sometimes people with disabilities are waiting for the bus to arrive and when they arrive the bus just leaves them.
Many people sometimes wait an hour to an hour and a half just for the bus to arrive and sometimes the bus gets delayed so it comes even later.
WJPS 12th grader Adam Shalaby said, “It’s really annoying because when the Q76 bus is late I have to wait over 30 minutes for my next bus, the Q16.”
For jobs or schools, even being a couple of minutes late could cost them.
WJPS paraprofessional Ms. Williams said, “The express bus on peak-time runs every half an hour.”
Many people choose to drive because the bus has a chance of delays. Skipping the wait and going directly to their destination is more ideal in the eyes of some.
