English students of Ms.Marks sophomore and junior classes took a trip to the Jewish Heritage Museum to learn more about the holocaust and jewish heritage.
“ I learned a lot about the jewish heritage and what they went through during the Holocaust. It helped me get a better understanding of the book Night,” says Junior Rafael Madera
Junior students are reading the book Night by Ellie Wiesel and went to learn more and understand the memoir better. The sophomores are reading The Book Thief by Marcus Susack which also relates to the Holocaust theme.
“The trip coincides with the 11th and 10th grade readings to really appreciate the complexity of the books. We had a pre-visit and a post-visit from college interns to summarize the impact of the books,” English teacher Ms.Marks said.
At the museum students were guided on a tour and shown what the jews were been through and got a feel of how jews were treated and live. Students got a better understanding of the cause and effects of the Holocaust.
