LA Galaxy has confirmed that former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will move to the United States to play in Major League Soccer next season.
While Gerrard has spent most of his career with Liverpool, he caused a major uproar at the beginning of the month, announcing that he will not be renewing his contract at Anfield Stadium. Gerrard left spectors guessing where he would move next, but his final decision was to transfer to the United States and play major league soccer with LA Galaxy.
“I’m very excited to begin the next chapter of my career in the United States with LA Galaxy. The Galaxy are the most successful club in Major League Soccer history, and I am looking forward to competing for more championships in the years to come,” midfielder Gerrard said.
Even though Gerrard is very happy to begin his new adventure, he’s upset about leaving the team he began his career with at age 18, and has spent 17 years of his life with. Liverpool will be devastated to see him leave when his contract wraps up at the end of the Summer.
“It’s been an emotional few days for my family and myself since I made the announcement and I think it’s been the same for a lot of the supporters. It’s been difficult but I needed to snap out of it quickly because there are important games to be played. There is still a lot to be achieved this season,” Gerrard said.
“I think this is new type of challenger in Steven Gerard career. He has been an amazing player at Liverpool and has brought them very far. While doing outstanding in the Barclays premier league.i think he will shine because mls is way easier league and will fit perfectly in the La Galaxy’s team,” seventh grader Aris Apostolopoulos said.
As the Liverpool Legend plays his last matches with Liverpool, his fans and teammates will be realizing how much Gerrard will be missed when he finally leaves Anfield stadium.
