To fill students with enthusiasm about going to college, the school has designated the week of December 1st to be College Week.
“[College Week] was to promote college awareness. It will have students thinking about moving forward and their future,” assistant principal Mr. Jurman said.
Monday, December 1st will be time for students along with their second period class to begin to decorate their doors in any kind of theme they want. Some suggestions were college life, dream colleges, and teacher photos of them in college.
Tuesday lets the students “Dress for Success.” They have the option to dress in business outfits, the outfits of their chosen professions (firefighters, etc), or can just stay in their uniforms.
Career Day, hosted by Student Ambassadors, will be on Wednesday. Invited parents, friends, and professionals can talk about their jobs to students in the hopes of encouraging them to make that next step. Doors should be decorated by this day.
In a new tradition, Thursday will have students listening to college themed music during Lunch.
College Wear Day, when students can wear clothing from their dream colleges, held on Friday. Students that wear the college shirts can also wear jeans. This will also be the day that the doors will be judged. The winners will win a pizza party.
This week is going to be fun filled and a great way for students to be eager about college.
