Students may get out earlier everyday but it feels like the school week has gotten much longer. The school has changed the school schedule slightly.
School starts at 8:05am to 2:25pm along with this schedule change, students no longer have Wednesday half days. This has made a big difference on some of the students.
“The new schedule gives the students consistent arrival and end times so that they can plan accordingly. It gives them time for studying and jobs because it is a fixed schedule,” dean Mr. Millman said.
Another change was the addition to study hall. It gives students extra time to finish, makeup or start an assignment. It also impacts the teachers, giving them extra time to help students during their extra classes but they also need to teach more periods a week.
“I think the school schedule change is good but I still wish we got out at 12:52pm on Wednesdays. The good thing about the change is many students will have an extra five minutes to get to school so they won’t be many latenesses or detentions,” junior Josabeth Vinas said.
Students are also being dismissed about twenty minutes earlier which have been taken away from eighth period. The schedule mix up has also taken away about ten minutes from first period which was useful for all the teachers.
“I don’t really care about not having Wednesday half days but since we have extra classes on Wednesdays now, I wish we had classes like SAT Prep,” junior Molly Strauss said.
The school administration had no control over the schedule change, students will just have to get use to the change because that’s how it will be from now on.
