Throughout a student’s high school career they take numerous tests which helps them decide what they can and can’t do. Tests show if students understand what the they have done throughout the school year and represent what they learned in class.
Taking these classes that the school offers help students learn more and show colleges what they are capable of. The importance of AP exams is the chance to get credit for the class in college, which gets the student ahead by not taking a freshman class and instead taking the next advanced class.
Some colleges can accept the credit of an AP class, only if a student can get a score of 3-5 on the AP exam, the score range is different in every college.
Colleges will not want to waste their time on a person who isn’t capable of passing any Regents which shows that a student is apathetic about learning and it would show that they would not take any classes seriously.
Furthermore, if they get below a certain grade on the Regents, they will have to retake that course in college as a remedial course and pay money for a class that gives no credits.
”The regents and AP exams are very important to me because I know that colleges will be looking at them on my transcript. It represents the work I do in class because the whole point of AP is to get a good grade on the exam which helps you in college. My AP teachers talked about the exams and how important it is to get a good score,” junior Binnah Cha said.
