Broadcast news journalist for ABC news, Liz Cho, visited the school to talk about journalism in the auditorium.
“I contacted the community fair department to get someone to come in a speak about journalism because i wanted the students to gain more knowledge in journalistic area by sending 15 to 16 emails back and forth to find a speaker to tell us about journalism,” 12th grade English teacher Mr. Christopoulos said.
Ms.Cho gave out many informations on the steps to become a broadcast journalist, such as the 10,000 hours, internship and talking about her experienced throughout her career. She also shared her experiences on the great events that she has attended, such as the royal wedding and the funeral to president Ronald Reagan.
“Whenever she talked about journalism and the storytelling of her traveling around the world, it interested me to major in the journalistic area,” junior Kaitlyn Mckenna said.
Listening to Ms. Cho’s speech allowed students to gain knowledge on how the newsroom works and what steps are must be accomplished to become a good journalist.
