BALI girls were given the opportunity to bond with one another on an intimate level.
For the first session, business women, Kim DePole and Sonya Weisshappel, inspired the girls to become leaders. Women in high positions would empower other girls who are seeking support.
After the words of encouragement, the interns led a group activity called, Cross the Line. In this activity, participants cross the designated line if the given statement applies to them. Through this, the girls were able to bond with one another as they found similarities amongst them.
Following the activity, there was a group discussion, in which girls were welcomed to share any of their experiences and what they have learned through them. Through each other’s’ experiences, the girls were educated and introduced to issues that are normally not taught in schools. Despite anything anyone said, everyone showed support for one another.
“I think it made me more open to talking more about my story. Its tough to tell people about personal things that have happened, but it really does feel great to not only talk, but to feel that support from others,” trainee Natasha Dodge said.
