Today was the eighth day of the girls’ journey to leadership and empowerment.
Members of Choices Women’s Medical Center educated the girls about women’s choices of reproduction. For birth control, there are various options to choose from, besides the birth control pills.
To further inform the girls, a staff member of the Hetrick-Martin Institute, spoke about the LGBTQIA rights. Those who do not conform as male or female are disadvantaged in society. To prevent this, the spokesperson advocated for those rights and brought awareness to the BALI Class of 2016.
Lastly, Dr. Lynn Holden, who founded Medical Mentor, provided resources students who are interested in the medical. She also gave examples of etiquettes, which would be important not only for medical students but also for human relations in general.
“She [Dr. Lynn Holden] was given a second chance to fulfill her purpose of healing in life, and since my purpose is similar to hers, I have come to realize that without anything in my way at the moment, I am capable of anything,” trainee Serena Lu said.
