After seven years of not airing, Prison Break is scheduled to return for a limited 10-episode series in September
2016. The series stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, who will reprise their roles as brothers, Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows.
Since the series is being revived, new changes are to be expected. In addition to Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows returning for season five, Sarah Wayne Callies will return as Dr. Sara Tancredi, Michael’s lover since his admission in Fox River State Penitentiary. Robert Knepper will also return as Theodore Bagwell (T-Bag). The cast also includes Rockmond Dunbar as Benjamin Franklin (C-Note), and Amaury Nolasco as Fernando Sucre (Sucre).
(Spoiler Alert)
The original Prison Break series revolved around Michael Scofield escaping his brother out of prison before time ran out. A group of multi nationalists known as, “The Company”, claimed that Lincoln Burrows killed the vice president’s brother, Terrence Steadman. Lawyers and other agents of The Company, such as Veronica Donovan and Agent Paul Kellerman proved Lincoln of his innocence several months after his escape from Fox River.
It is later revealed that The Company set up Lincoln Burrows for the crime so they could get revenge on Lincoln’s father, Aldo Burrows. Since seasons one and two were all about proving Lincoln of his innocence and running from prison, seasons three and four revolved around “taking down” The Company and exposing who they were. Season five will have a new addition of Michael Scofield’s possible fourth and final prison escape.
“I like how they’re bringing it back. I miss the show. The ending was the best part and I can’t wait for them to bring it back,” junior Nazeer Hashimi said.
This new 10-episode series will answer questions left from the season four finale, as well as how the brothers and other inmates are after the exposure of The Company.
