FIDLAR , short for “F**k It Dog Life’s A Risk, is a four-piece surf punk band from L.A. The band is composed of Zac Carper (vocals/guitar), Brandon Schwartzel (vocals/bass), Elvis Kuehn (vocals/guitar), and Max Kuehn (drums).
The band formed in 2009, only consisting of Carper at the time. By 2010, the other members had joined. Since then they had only one album. Until recently on September 4th, when they dropped their second studio album “Too”
FIDLAR’s genre has been described as many things: punk, post-punk, alternative, surf punk, and the like. The songs on their first album focus heavily on Carpers drug use, such as “No Waves” written while he was in rehab. Another song would be “Stoked and Broke,” which is self explanatory when listening to it. “Too” focuses on Carper’s sobriety of one year, and how his previous drug use had influenced songs such as “Bad Habits”, “Stupid Decisions”, and “Bad Medicine” (written by Schwartzel).
Shortly after their album release, they announced a fall tour with dates throughout the U.S., Europe, and the United Kingdom. The tour started on September 9th. They are playing Webster Hall on September 26th.
