CUNY’s free application period has started for 12th graders.
Seats are available for seniors applying for college in fall of 2026. Additionally, they have the opportunity to submit a free CUNY application, now through November 21st.
According to cuny.edu to secure a position in CUNY schools, students need to apply and have their high school diploma after graduating by this school year.
When completing the application on the CUNY website, students can apply to a maximum of six CUNY universities.
WJPS 12th grader Nataly Ramirez said, “I think it’s a great opportunity, especially for low-income students who don’t always have the resources to pay for those applications. However, it could possibly affect some students’ applications because they don’t have the same amount of time to look over their applications as thoroughly as other students.”
WJPS 12th grader Luka Zubovic said, “I like the fact that it’s free for basically a month, and I can apply to so many schools. Most of my other applications cost up to 80 dollars, and it’s nice to finally have a break.”
If students need help applying, there’s an Admissions Toolbox, which provides links on the cuny.edu website to begin.
