Over the past two and a half centuries, there has been talk about the possibility of adding Canada to the United States. It is time for Canada to join the Union.
For one, Canada is one of the largest economies in the world. Canada becoming a state would make Americans wealthier and more prosperous than they are currently.
Another thing to consider is that Canada has an abundance of natural resources such as oil, natural gas, and lumber. Adding Canada to the Union would save the United States a lot of money on importing these goods.
Canada becoming a state would likely mean that many Canadians would experience a decrease in income taxes.
There are also more advantages from a business standpoint. Uniting America and Canada would increase the choices that both Canadian and American citizens get in terms of access to banks, retail, and other services.
WJPS 12th grader Maya Guadarrma said, “The United States and Canada combined would make the most powerful country so I think it’s a good thing.”
Considering all these prospective advantages paints a clear picture: Canada becoming the 51st state would improve the living standards for both sides of the border. If Canadians want lower taxes, and a stronger economy, then they should support Canada becoming part of the United States.
WJPS 10th grader Layla Ma said, “I don’t think we should have Canada because they don’t want that.”
