Devices in the medical field that use technology can allow doctors to be more efficient while helping their patients.

The way these technological devices are helping patients is by contributing to screening, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation processes according to “sciencedirect.com.

Some of the devices doctors use to help their patients can be a defibrillator or an electrosurgical device.

The defibrillator is a heart device that has been around since 1899. It sends an electric shock to the heart to try and restore a heartbeat. This device can also detect an abnormal heartbeat that can lead to cardiac arrest.

The electrosurgical device was first introduced in 1926. It is used mainly during eye surgery to cut and shrink tissue. This device also consists of a generator and handpiece with one or more electrodes.

WJPS teacher Ms. Papazoglou said, “I think medical technology is great. Small things that are taken for granted, like laser surgery that is less invasive, have great results.”

WJPS teacher Ms. Muenkwitz said, “Medical technology is getting better and better as time goes by, in ways I haven’t seen five years ago.”
