Gladiator is reprising a new sequel Gladiator II, which is set to release on November 22nd in theaters.
The film will star Paul Mescal, who will play as the main character: Lucius.
Gladiator II moves on from the events from Oscar-Winning movie Gladiator, where Maximus and Commodus fight against each other in a final brawl.
In the new sequel, Lucius, being the nephew of Commodus, enters as a Colosseum fighter as the Romans conquer his home.
The film will be rated R for “restricted.” The producers have stated the film will include “strong bloody violence,” which differs slightly from the original film, which had an R rating tag for “intense graphic combat.”
WJPS ninth grader, Andrew Piedra said, “I really enjoyed the first film. I believe it was one of the best written movies, I can’t wait for the sequel.”
WJPS 11th Grader, Kevin Zheng said, “I don’t really know if the second movie will even come close to how the first one did, the plot seems repetitive.”
