With only days before the Poetry Slam, students prepare themselves to perform in front of family, friends, and other viewers. The event will be held at the Mcgolrick Library on Friday, March 20th at 4PM.
“I’m excited because it’s my last year and I want to leave this poetry slam with a bang,” senior Aliyah Cortez said.
Mrs. Marks has hosted the poetry slam for four years. This started with her freshman class writing spoken word poetry about their future and how they believe they will be successful. The first poetry slam was a success and was broadened to not only freshman but other students in all grades to show off their poems.
“I am very excited it’s our fourth annual poetry slam. A lot of alumni are involved since the first year, this year the theme is not american future, it’s about being hurt. It kind of all ties together,” teacher Mrs. Marks said.
