It was a night of music, lights, and lots of skating. On November 4th, the WJPS Ice Skating Night took over the Andrew Stergiopoulos ice rink in Great Neck. Quite a few students showed up, as well as some teachers, to partake in the activity.
Big and well-kept, the ice rink was able to hold the many participants of the event.
Several students skated alongside recreational skaters, figure skaters, and even hockey skaters alike that night. Two teachers also skated with their significant others, and had fun doing it.
“I’ve been skating for two years, they didn’t have discos like this back then, though.” science teacher Ms. Katz said
Of course, students swarmed towards the faculty to say hello to their teachers and comment on their skating skills.
“It’s not my first time skating, but it looks like it,” science teacher Mr Van deurs said.
Tickets for the event ran $13-$16 a person, depending on the time at which it was bought. A food coupon for a drink and hot dog cost $5. Participants were able to rent ice skates to skate with friends, classmates, and teachers all night.
Many WJPS students ended up attending. The music was loud, the DJ was lively, and the skating was smooth. More events of this type are being planned for the future.
