Fans of the NY Giants showed their excitement from Sunday night’s winning game.
On October 5, 2014, the NY Giants went against the Atlanta Falcons and won with a score of 30 to 20.
This game started out with wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr, making his first catch of his NFL career. Beckham Jr was drafted in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft. Then, their other wide receiver, Rueben Randle, scored a touchdown for the Giants.
However, the Falcons were also able to make a touchdown shortly after. This touchdown led to a punt which NY Giants’ wide receiver, Preston Parker, caught the ball but then dropped it. The Falcons were able to come and quickly recover it.
In the second quarter, the Falcons scored a field goal after they recovered the ball in the end of the first quarter. Later on, when Eli Manning, quarter-back, was about to throw the ball, he ran and moved back in the fear of getting sacked. This led the Falcons to gain possession of the ball and were able to kick a field goal.
Second quarter ended with Giants kicker, Josh Brown, kicking a field goal. Going into halftime, the score was 13 to 10, the Falcons were in the lead.
“The Giants have come a long way and are a very organized team,” junior Marcella Orlando said.
In the third quarter, the Falcons made a touchdown. “The Giants” safety, Antrell Rolle, tried to stop him but didn’t have enough force to bring him down. Luckily, the Giants also scored a touchdown by their running back, Andre Williams.
In the last quarter, Beckham Jr made his first NFL touchdown in his career. Then, the defensive tackle, Johnathan Hankins, sacked the Falcons quarter-back and gave the Giants possession. Next, Brown kicked a field goal and later on scored another field goal, ending the game.
“You start to get a little bit of pressure and you create some opportunities for… when people are playing from behind, the idea of throwing the ball and having to throw the ball is ever-present, so you kind of have more opportunities. We were in the right place at the right time.” Head coach Tom Coughlin said.
NY Giants are really coming together. Rookie’s were able to shine, as well as all the offense players who had many opportunities. Defensively, the Giants played a hard game and tried their best to not let anyone pass, which really showed at the end of the game. The team was determined to win that game and gave up at nothing to win.
“Eli and the Giants always come up big in the clutch, and come up big in important games,” junior Yareth Tototzintle said.
