Whether people are going away during the holiday vacation or they’re staying home, most are spending time with their family members and friends while relaxing and taking a step back from work.
“Hanukkah was our holiday, so [our holiday time is] over. I spend New Year’s at home with my family [and we] don’t go anywhere,” freshman English teacher Mrs. Marks said. “We make cookies and we stay up until midnight, and then everyone goes to sleep.”
Celebrating a holiday or not, the holiday break is a time that can be spent with family. Many people are using the 12 days that everyone gets off to relax and not worry about anything. Some are using the time to go into the city.
“For the christmas break I’m going to my grandmas house in Manhattan,” freshman Marcelo Rivera said. “[I’m also] going to the city and I’m going see the tree at Rockerfeller Center.”
While some said they weren’t even going to look at anything involving work, others said that they were actually going to get things done during the break, but there would be much more relaxing than anything productive.
“I’m most likely going to procrastinate until the last day” junior Zachary Damasco said. “Probably New Years Day, I’m going to do all my homework and just hate myself for it.”
