An abundance of food awaits a student as she walks into the auditorium. Everything from tamales, empanadas, and other dishes; all representing different cultures. She doesn’t know where to begin, with so much food, and so many good smells around her.
“My advisory from 2006 came up with this event while talking about what we are thankful for and what we can do to give back to others,” international feast coordinator Ms. Fong said. “It was our first year, and we wanted to create a tradition for the school.”
Ms. Fong and her advisory will be hosting the International Feast, an annual tradition at school, during the day on Wednesday, November 27. Students will bring in a dish from their culture and gather together with different grades with dishes, cutlery. Everyone has an opportunity to try new foods that they may love or have never tried before.
Organizing this feast also gives the school an opportunity to unite and enjoy the last day before they leave for break, as they all think about what they are thankful for.
“I will definitely be bringing in a dish from my culture for the feast, and [I’m] hoping to have a taste of others dishes from their own culture,” junior Jason Chen said.
